Veracity standard

The NEXUS® Standard.

One public standard to verify interconnected impacts (water, energy, carbon, productivity), each recorded separately, each claimed once.

02In short

What the standard covers.

NEXUS® is the rulebook behind every Water Resilience Certificate. It sets how impacts are measured, verified, recorded and claimed, across all protocols.

  1. 01Protocols: one method per intervention type.
  2. 02Verification: by independent, accredited bodies.
  3. 03Registry: each certificate is issued once and retired once.

03Why a nexus standard

A litre saved is also energy and carbon.

Single-impact schemes lose the rest of the value, or count it twice. NEXUS measures once and keeps each impact in its own record.

04Integrity rules

The rules that do most of the work.

  1. 01Never added together: water, quality, biodiversity and carbon stay separate.
  2. 02The weakest dimension sets any combined level.
  3. 03One verified quantity, one claim.
  4. 04Protocols call shared formulas; none is rewritten.
  5. 05Basin scarcity never changes a volume.
  6. 06Context is recorded, never scored.
  7. 07Permanence matches the physics: flows and stocks are treated differently.

05Governance

Separated by design.

  1. Veracity writes the rules and runs the registry.
  2. Independent, accredited bodies verify.
  3. A Standards Committee governs; integrity changes go to public consultation.
  4. Policies on conflicts of interest, verifiers and appeals are public.

06Aligned frameworks

We bind to what already works.

  • VWBA 2.0
  • ISO 14046
  • ISO 14064-3
  • ISO/IEC 17029
  • IPMVP
  • ISO/IEC 42001 for the AI management system

07Get started

Read the standard. Then test it on a project.

+Questions

What is NEXUS®?

The standard behind every Water Resilience Certificate. It verifies water, energy, carbon and productivity from one measurement and records each impact separately.

Why are impacts never added together?

Because each impact has its own unit and its own claim. Keeping them separate prevents double counting and hides no trade-off.

Who decides on changes to the standard?

A Standards Committee governs. Changes that affect integrity go to public consultation.

Does basin scarcity increase the volume certified?

No. Basin context is recorded and disclosed, but it never changes a volume.

Which frameworks does it align with?

VWBA 2.0, ISO 14046, ISO 14064-3, ISO/IEC 17029 and IPMVP, with ISO/IEC 42001 for the AI management system.
